Nite to Unite Fundraising Event with the ESA Foundation
This year, CGC had the honor of working with the Entertainment Software Association Foundation (ESA Foundation) to prepare for their annual Nite to Unite (NTU) fundraising event in San Francisco, held on March 20th. The mission of the ESA Foundation is to provide scholarships to the next generation of industry innovators and support charitable organizations and schools that leverage entertainment software and technology to create meaningful opportunities for America’s youth. Nite to Unite is their signature event that brings together more than 600 video game industry leaders to celebrate and raise funds. NTU 2018 raised over $800,000!
The evening kicked off with an industry networking reception and silent auction, continued with dinner and an awards ceremony, exciting live auction and appeal that raised over $240,000, and ended with a festive nightcap in the famed “Tonga Room” at the Fairmont. This year’s event also honored 2018 Visionary Award Recipient, Laila Shabir, who is the founder and CEO of The LearnDistrict. Laila has been a champion of women in STEAM through her company’s female-focused Girls Make Games summer camps, workshops, and games. She received her award and gave an inspirational speech about the necessity of diversity in the tech industry. She was even joined on stage by some of the ESA Foundation’s newest scholarship recipients.
