CGC WINS A 2017 GOLD MARCOM AWARD
FOR THE EMPOWERED VR: WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN RURAL INDIA – A VIRTUAL REALITY FILM PRODUCED IN 2016 FOR CLIENT VFF USA
Marcom Awards announced winners in the 2017 international creative competition for marketing and communication professionals. There were about 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 17 other countries. Corporate Giving Connection (CGC) won a Gold MarCom Award for The Empowered VR: Women Entrepreneurs in Rural India – a virtual reality film produced in 2016 for CGC-client VFF USA. The Gold Award is presented to those entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm.
Told using the power of virtual reality, The Empowered VR is the story of three women and how the Vicente Ferrer Foundation has helped to transform their lives. In rural areas of India, a majority of women are illiterate. Girls are now sent to school but are often deprived of secondary education. Women are victims of gender based discrimination throughout their lives, even before they are born. The Empowered VR transports viewers to the villages of the Andhra Pradesh region to visit with Anji, Nallamma, and Sarojamma and see firsthand how VFF has changed their lives.
CGC worked closely with the nonprofit Vicente Ferrer Foundation in the U.S. (VFF USA) and with Black Powder Works to write, direct, and produce this unique virtual reality film in order to bring the work of VFF in India into the homes and hearts of Americans. The film was part of an initiative to launch VFF in the U.S. and debuted at their Recipe for Empowerment gala in October 2016 in Washington, DC.
Marcom is one of the oldest, largest and most-respected creative competitions in the world. Winning a Marcom Award is highly sought after, peer recognition from the creative industry. Marcom winners range from huge international creative agencies and Fortune 500 companies to individual creative professionals. CGC is excited to have its first virtual reality film honored by the MarCom organization.
