Women Paying It Forward at Superfierce
As described by and chairperson Maggie O’Neill, “Superfierce is a term I use to describe the most authentic and awe-inspiring people in my life. This movement began because I wanted to create something I couldn’t find when I graduated from art school: a support system for female artists to grow as both creators and business owners, and to give back to other women in their professional communities.” Launched in Washington DC in October 2016, “Superfierce is made up of a group of fearless female creatives coming together to pay it forward by giving back to artists through a developing mentorship program and supporting our communities through charitable partnerships.”
Through the inaugural DC event, nonprofit organization EBeauty Community was able to form an incredible partnership with Superfierce that captured the essence of strong, successful women paying it forward. EBeauty provides a support network for women undergoing treatment for cancer. The primary goal of EBeauty is to ensure that all women, regardless of economic status, have access to wigs to restore their self-image and confidence during treatment.
More than 400 guests and collectors enjoyed food and cocktails while viewing extraordinary artwork, a live Artist Panel, and bidding on exclusive auction items and experiences. Breast cancer survivor Michelle Schoenfeld and former Redskin Chris Cooley emceed. The evening attracted some of the most influential women in Washington and raised over $60,000 for EBeauty.
Superfierce will be hosting multiple events in 2017, including DC and Miami, with dates and locations to be announced. Proceeds from these events will also benefit EBeauty Community as they work to expand their network and help more women battling cancer.
